Are you using cellular PVC for more than just your basic trim applications and looking for high quality when milling?

So was this fabricator/builder.

There might not be a tougher environment for exterior building products, including cellular PVC, than the sunshine state of Florida. With constant UV rays, high humidity and salt air, things that are not made to the highest quality will not last. Therefore, when Ted Hagemeyer, owner of Finyl Sales in Ocala, Florida, was searching for a PVC trim product to use in the high-end retirement community known as The Villages; he chose VERSATEX.

“Our specialty is all the exterior “fu-fu” products that must be low maintenance to satisfy our customers. We do a lot of gingerbread work, and everything from columns, to brackets to railing systems. We love to use PVC to do this with and have tried 6 different brands and when it comes to tolerances and UV protection VERSATEX is the best overall package,” says Ted.

Ted uses CNC routing equipment to create some very ornate and beautiful accents for both residential and light commercial projects in The Villages. The ability to create these pieces depends on the consistency and the tolerances of the PVC sheet products he uses.

“With VERSATEX we do not find any voids when milling it; they have very consistent density. Also, we do not see differences in thickness from board to board (as with some other PVC products) so we do not have to do a lot of sanding and finishing to get the look we want,” Ted claims.

The other benefit to Ted and his customers is the terrific UV protection that VERSATEX has to offer.

“We are getting more and more clients that do not want to paint – they want to leave it white. The VERSATEX product will stay stable and not yellow in the sun as with other PVC trim we have tried,” says Ted.

What Ted and his customers in Florida are benefiting from is the fact that Versatex manufacturers sheets to a thickness tolerance that is half the industry standard (+/-1/32”). Additionally, VERSATEX cellular PVC has ingredients within the product that works as a natural UV blocker to ensure better color hold. Thus, Ted can create beautiful looking trim pieces that will stand the test of time in the tough Floridian climate.
